Photo Scavenger Hunt - A Windmill

Rinda's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt has been running for four weeks now, and pictures are popping up all over blogland. I've only just started collecting mine - we are going on a cruise to Norway later this summer and I hope to get most of them there. I've already earmarked a tower to visit, I hope to find both candles and stained glass in a church and we should see some spectacular sunsets at sea.

However a few of the items will be found closer to home. One of those is the windmill (I've never seen one on Norway), which I knew exactly where to find, though photographing it was slightly more tricky. This was my first attempt, got by sticking my camera through the railings outside:

I was nice and close, but the windmill is obscured by trees. The second attempt, from the other side, involved parking the car at the edge of the slip-road between two dual carriageways and grabbing a quick photo across the fields:

The full list of scavenger hunt items is on this page, or follow the link at the top of my blog, or of course it's on Rinda's blog Gallo Organico. You can see all of this year's photos (and last year's) via the link at the top or individual posts via the 'Photo Scavenger Hunt' label below.

Happy hunting!

  2. I love windmills (you might have guess that from my avitar) but I haven't seen any locally yet. But I am on the prowl and can always go for a drive into the country to get one. Your windmill is a beauty.

  3. A great windmill shot. I'll have to do a little investigating to see if we have one locally.

  4. What a great windmill. And the second shot (with the cow) is so pastoral. Love it. Thanks for linking up.

  6. A beautiful find - and I recognise the dedication/madness of stopping the car / moving around to capture what you need!

  7. Lucky you having a nearby windmill, I have quite a journey to our nearest. All part of the challenge, I guess.

  8. I agree on the pastoral look of that second photo - you couldn't tell there was a slip road and dual carriage way near by.

  9. I love both your shots - the second one of course shows so much more of the windmill itself and the scenery is so beautiful.

  11. Lovely photos. I think the windmill is the one I'll struggle with unless a turbine counts and then there are plenty of them around. You'll get some great photos in Norway.
