Photo Scavenger Hunt - Tromsø Finds

Back to Rinda's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt, and Tromsø turned out to be a good place to pick off a few from the list. First is this open air market, mostly selling local goods to tourists:

I always knew that I wanted my stained glass object or mosaic to be the spectacular stained glass window that fills the end wall of Tromsdalen Church (also known as the Arctic Cathedral). Sadly the bottom section was covered up, but it was still impressive:

I also found my candles inside the church:

And some seals in the aquarium at Polaria:

Nine down, 13 to go. And I haven't found any of the difficult ones yet...

1 Cube, 2 Boys, 3rd Birthday

Over at Two Peas in a Bucket, Glitter Girl has been looking at making scrapbook pages with bolder background papers and her Adventure 83 gave us step-by-step instructions for making a page using the bold paper as a frame around the page. Her instructions included picking out two colours from the bold pattern and using single-coloured papers in those colours in the centre of the page, with a neutral mat to separate them from the background.

I've tried to scrap this photo of my son and nephew a couple of times using a zig-zag print from MME's Lime Twist collection. The colours suited the photo and the zig-zags conveyed a sense of movement, perfect for them rolling around the floor, but I couldn't get any further. By following Glitter Girl's instructions I was finally able to get the photo scrapped, and scrapped quite quickly.

Photo Scavenger Hunt - Someone Napping

There's less than a month left now for Rinda's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt so I need to get on with sharing the pictures I've taken and finding the ones I haven't.

My daughter is going to kill me for this, but number six on the list is someone or something taking a nap and I couldn't pass up the chance for this photo. Here she is snoozing on the coach between Honningsvåg and the North Cape.

Cruise Norway

I've not done much 12x12 scrapping since I came back from Norway, but I have begun work on the scrapbook for that cruise. I decided to use divided page protectors and I bought those and an assortment of papers before we went away. I'll be ordering all the 4x6 photos online so it will be a while before I have many finished pages to share with you. I've started five pages so far, but a lot of the 4x6 pockets are empty awaiting photos at the moment.

I actually made most of the title page before we went away, and it doesn't have any photos at all (though it's not actually finished either; I'm waiting for my husband to fill in one of the cards):

I have my album title and our ticket in the top two pockets, then a row where each of us has (or will have) written what we want to see and do. The last two pockets have our itinerary and a map of Norway.

As you can see I have chosen an aqua, yellow and grey scheme for the album. I bought new papers from two Pink Paislee lines and I've added other aqua, yellow and grey papers and embellishments to my 'Norway box'. I'll take the same approach as I did with my Olympic and Paralympic album last year - if I use anything else from my stash then I will add it to the box and continue using it in the rest of the album.

Photo Scavenger Hunt - A Sunset

I thought that photographing a sunset for Rinda's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt would be dead easy on our cruise; it certainly has been on previous cruises, but Mother Nature decided to give us many cloudy evenings this time. Add that to the fact that we went so far north as to have 24 hour daylight for four days and good sunsets were few and far between. But there were a few, including this one after we left Ålesund:

Photo Scavenger Hunt - A Tower & A Bench

Hello Blog. Hello Scrappy Friends.

I've been away - on a cruise of the Norwegian coast and Svalbard. Of course, I have lots of lovely photos, and I'll probably bore you with scrapbook pages from Norway as the year goes on, but for now I'll share a few shots from Kristiansund. This town grew up around the fishing industry and it is spread across three islands which were only connected to the mainland by road in 1992.

This is Varden - the old watchtower on the highest point of Kirkelandet, perfect for Rinda's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt (no. 8 - A Tower).

And the view from the top:

And at the foot of the tower was Scavenger Hunt Item 10 - a bench that is outside:
