This page finishes a set of four pages from a wedding; I shared the first three yesterday, so you may want to scroll back and look at them. My page design was largely dictated by the leftovers from making the first three, and I repeated the stamping, the punched circles and flowers and the gold hearts once again.

I'm sharing a trio of wedding pages today - one conventional 12x12 and two divided pages. When I originally planned this album I was overwhelmed by this set of photos; there aren't a lot of them, but they were mostly single photos or pairs of photos that related to different aspects of the day. It looked like either doing lots of one or two photo pages, or cramming them all onto a double, and I didn't really like either option.

Then I was inspired to use a divided page protector by the fourth video in Shimelle's Return to the Collection class. I don't know why I didn't think of it for myself as I am using them for my Norwegian cruise album, but I didn't. Anyway, this format allows me to put all the different photos together because each one still gets its own miniature 4x6 layout within the divided page.

The 12x12 page features the bride and groom and the rest of the wedding party, and has my only 4x6 vertical photo. The large hearts on the red paper are obscured, but I used pieces of the same paper in the divided pages.

I didn't have enough photos to fill all the pockets - the red hearts makes a good filler, and I included the invitation in another pocket. I've dug into my old stash of wedding stickers and rub-ons too as the colours matched the wedding colours so well.

I've tried to continue the same motifs through the pages, so there are lots of gold lines and hearts and lots of scalloped circles, a few flowers and the same lettering for all the subtitles. I also repeated some stamping in green in several places - the tree stamp that I used has pretty swirly branches and I overlapped those and omitted the trunk to get a mass of swirls across the 12x12 page and on the edges of a couple of the smaller cards.

There is one more page from the day to come - afterwards the bride and groom gave us a professional photo of our children who had been Page Boy and Flower Girl. That one will come next in the album and shares the same colour scheme, but I'll blog it tomorrow.

Great Grandad

This is my page for Paper Secrets 1st February Sketch with a Twist. This time the twist is to include items that start with each of the letters of the word KISS.

I substituted the heart from the sketch with a bracket-shape and used larger photos. The photos are old ones of my children with their great-grandfather, and the paper is nearly as old as the photos.

My KISS items are: paper from K&Company, Inked edges, Stitching and Stickers. Happily this was a lot easier than the word WINTER that they set last time.

Another sketch challenge page today. This one's for Scrap Our Stash, who posed the additional challenge of using pre-made numbers on the page.

I'm filling in a gap in my 2004 album, with two photos that I printed before Christmas and didn't actually scrap for some reason. I'd already matched the photos up with these papers, so it was easy to get started. The hardest part was including a number, but I have a 2 on a tag in my embellishment.

Testing, Testing

An odd title perhaps, but this picture is one of the test photos my husband took when we got our first digital camera back in 2004. I scrapped it using the 1st November sketch from Stuck?! Sketches, which I rotated and adapted for just one photo. 

Since the page is more about the camera than the photo, I started with a camera print paper from Echo Park and then pulled in some 6x6 papers. I've used my first ever piece of Flair on this page (thanks to Jenni who included a pack in her prize from the ABC-123 Blog Hop at Scrap Our Stash).

Adventure Island

I've been re-visiting some of the chapters from the Hitchhiker's Guide to Scrapping workshop over at Two Peas in a Bucket and this double page comes from one of the 'Starting Points' - a row of vertical patterned paper stripes with borders above and below. This is another page made from scraps (apart from the 12x12 backgrounds) and an easy way to use them up.

The photos are a selection from my son's birthday trip to a local theme park.

World in Miniature

Whenever I flip through my photo albums, there are certain groups of photos that I know how I want to scrap, but I just don't get round to doing them. They are mostly groups with lots of 4x6 photos, and I am generally planning to use a chapter from Shimelle Laine's 4x6 Photo Love class which ran at Two Peas in a Bucket in 2011.

I've decided to tackle one of these sets of photos today - a set of 12 from World in Miniature, an attraction in Cornwall which had models of famous landmarks. (My photos are from 2004; World in Miniature closed in 2008.) I'm using the November class which was intended for 11 photos, but it was easy to include one more.

The basic premise of Shimelle's 11 (or 12) photo page is a double page with seven photos, plus a 6x12 insert with 4 (or 5) more. This is the left page and the front of the insert:

I know that I could have re-printed all of the photos smaller and fitted them on a 'standard' double page, but it seemed to be a terrible waste of photos to do that, and then what would I have done with the originals? I'm trying to convert all my old photo albums to scrapbooks and I don't want albums full of originals plus scrapbooks full of copies.

Wildlife

When I buy a paper collection, I tend to keep all the pieces together until I'm near the end and then I either add them to my scraps box or pile the remaining pieces onto one final layout. For some reason I've kept the scraps from s.e.i.'s Dill Blossom collection in their own bag for nearly two years without doing either. 

It's time to rectify that by using the remaining pieces on this page (including that circle which I cut previously and obviously didn't use). I spritzed the background paper with mist and laid out the papers before I chose my photos. They were taken in a local nature park when my then 7 year-old son's science homework was to look at the local wildlife. I wish his science homework was so easy now that he's 16!

Back to School

Today I'm sharing a page made with the October 15th Sketch from Stuck?! Sketches. My photos are old ones from the first day of the new school year back in 2004.

I almost always make school pages on alphabet or number paper so I chose this gorgeous Calligraphy print from Cosmo Cricket as the basis for my page, and worked from the oranges and greens in the paper.

I have a few more layers on my page than in the sketch, and I dropped both the circle and the banners, but I think the likeness is clear.

Land's End

This page forms a pair with the previous one as I was struck by the similarity between sketches 16 and 20 from the Sketch-a-Thon at My Sketch World. Both have rectangular panels of paper (vertical or horizontal) layered with a circular piece; I used number 20 for my last page, and I'm working with Sketch 16 for this one.

I picked pieces from my scrap box which have a beach or nautical theme and matched them to photos from Land's End. I have a few extra panels on this page compared to the sketch as I had to work with the size of the scraps as they were. I also wanted to separate the blue circle from the blue background. I was planning to use the same alphabet here as on the previous page, but I was out of Ls and had to make a change.

I went AWOL for a while this week, but I'm back with my last two pages from the Anniversary Sketch-a-Thon at My Sketch World. 

I was rummaging through my scraps box recently when I realised that I had a lot of pieces with a beach or coastal theme. I decided to use up some of these with three photos from Land's End and two similar sketches for two complementary pages.

Jurassic Park

Back now to the 7th Sketch from the Sketch-a-Thon at My Sketch World. This one had me baffled when it was published as I couldn't find quite the combination of photos that I thought I needed. However once I decided to ditch the idea of using four photographs and to substitute patterned paper for the smaller ones, this page came together quite easily.

I picked a couple of dinosaur photos from a holiday in Cornwall, and they are once again larger than those in the sketch, so I played around with the dimensions of the other elements and ended up dropping the three circles on the right.

Eden Project

I had been working through the sketches from My Sketch World's Anniversary Sketch-a-Thon in order, but as soon as I saw Sketch #11 I knew exactly which photos I wanted to use. We visited the Eden Project in 2004 (pre-digital photography) and I had just three photos from the day, in exactly the right orientation mix, but a little larger.

I was lucky enough won a gift certificate from The Robin's Nest in last year's Sketch-a-Thon, and some of their products are on this page.

We visited again last year and I have 48 photos, plus my husband probably took a similar number. They're going to take more than one page to scrap!

Goonhilly

February means a Sketch-a-Thon over at My Sketch World. They are celebrating their seventh birthday, and this is the third year that I have joined in. They generally alternate between cards and layouts, and this is the first sketch.

I rotated it for my page, as my main photo was portrait, not landscape. All three were originally 4x6 prints, but I cropped lots of grey sky from two of them. They're from a cloudy day in Cornwall when we visited the Satellite Earth Station at Goonhilly Down.

I have been hand-writing my journalling for ages but I couldn't fit what I wanted to write in the space that I had left myself, so I turned to the computer for the journalling on this page.

Lizard Point

Another page from the Green Buttons Fun Night now; this was a sketch challenge and, to be honest, I went to bed and did this one next day. It was a nice and simple sketch but I shuffled papers for ages trying to find the right mix of colours for my photos from Lizard Point in Cornwall.

I ended up picking two green papers so I wanted to accentuate the edge between the two, but just inking the edges wasn't enough. I decided to distress the paper edges with my scissors and I think that has been more effective.

My photos are a bit larger than those in the sketch (despite the fact that we were told to start with two 4x6 photos) so I turned my journalling sideways. I didn't have enough letters of the right size in any suitable colour so I stamped my title. I should really do this more often (rather than as a last resort) and get some more use from my stamps.

Exeter Cathedral

While we have been busy with the CHA Challenges from Two Peas, Shimelle has published not one but two 'Sketch to Scrapbook Page' videos on her blog. The first sketch has two 4x6 portrait photos, but I rotated them to be landscape, and then moved the other elements around to suit.

My photos are of Exeter Cathedral and my journalling tells how we lived in the City for seven years without ever going inside the Cathedral, and it was only when we were living on the other side of the country and re-visiting Exeter while on holiday that we finally went inside.

More old photos today, a trio from St Michael's Mount, a small island off the Cornish coast. I used the November class from the '& Now for Something Completely Different' series at UKScrappers for my page, but I did tweak it to suit me; Shimelle cut her photos into strips but I wanted to leave mine whole. I will probably repeat the class with some Norwegian panoramas at another time.

Babbacombe Model Village

After a break for Christmas preparations and then Christmas itself, I'm back to scrapping again. I have umpteen projects on the go, but right now I'm in the mood to just scrap whatever photos catch my eye.

I keep seeing this quartet of photos when I am looking for singles or doubles for challenges and I feel the need to scrap them rather than keep passing over them. Four 4x6 photos take up a lot of the page, so I kept it really simple, just a border top and bottom and a couple of small embellishment clusters. There's no journalling as I can't actually remember much about our visit to the model village.

Lydford Gorge

This is a scheduled post for Shimelle's '& Now for Something Completely Different' class at UKScrappers. The difference this month was that she only provided written instructions and no pictures of her page.

She asked us to keep our pages under wraps until Hallowe'en when we can all reveal them simultaneously, so here's mine:

Now We Are Five

I said last post that I wanted to go back to the previous '& now for something completely different' classes at UKScrappers, and I've gone straight for the February class. Shimelle made a 4" x 6" mini-book attached to her page with brads, but I adapted her instructions to do a single photo layout.

The black and white strips were done with a bracket punch and I really like the lozenge shapes formed by offsetting the strips.
