Share the Love

Having kept on top of my albums for 2019 and 2020, I didn't do so well in 2021 or 2022. We're in 2023 now and so far there are only two pages that need to be made, though that will change with the onset of spring. For now though, this is one page done, and the other will be a DT page that I will share next month.

Someone yarn-bombed the postbox near our railway station for Valentine's Day last month, and I've used the March sketch from For the Love of Pretty Paper which featured six circles. I used one for the photo, two with patterned paper, two balls of wool and a plain circle for journalling. Those balls of wool are part of the Hobbies Elements 1
cut-file from Twilight Crafts, and I backed them with mulberry paper to give a fluffy look. I added strips of washi tape, word stickers and lots of hearts.

Christmas Parkrun

Well, I managed two pages in a row for my cruise album, before diverting again. This diversion is for my latest DT page for Twilight Crafts. Debbie has been busy designing wreath cut-files recently, and I picked her Holly Wreath for a Christmas page.

I have a Silhouette Portrait so can only cut at 8" wide and I wanted a larger wreath so I cut it in two pieces and placed them 'back-to-back' on my page with my photo between the two parts.

I backed the holly berries and leaves in patterned paper, smooshed ink in matching colours onto my background paper to sit behind the cut-file and added dots of Nuvo drops around the wreath. I backed my photo on the same cardstock and papers and popped it up on a square of foam to sit above the cut-file.

After Dark

I've had a new batch of cruise photos printed recently, and that's enabled me to return to the start of the album and make a page for our departure from Southampton. This was a winter cruise so we set sail after dark, hence the title. I printed two photos - a 4x6 of the cruise terminal and a 3x4 of another ship - and arranged them in a block across the page with a filmstrip die-cut to fill in the remaining space.

I added torn paper strips above and below my photo panel and placed an extra paper at the top to hold my title and a few embellishments. I then added more embellishments over the filmstrip and tucked in half a journalling card (the other half is on another page) at the bottom next to a subtitle.

Paper - Simply Made Crafts Travel Keepsakes, Heidi Swapp Carefree, OneCanoe Two Willow, Jen Hadfield Peaceful Heart

La Palma

I've not scrapped much recently, while I concentrated on a major de-clutter and reorganisation of my home-office-cum-craft-room. I've gone back to my Canary Island cruise album now and got re-started with a scraplift. I make sub-title pages for each port of call and had done two previously in the same way (Lanzarote and La Gomera) so it was an easy matter to pull them out and repeat the design.

This one is for the island of La Palma, with a 5x7 photo of the town taken from the ship, matted on a 6x8 paper layered over four different patterned strips. I made a cluster to the left of the photo as I have previously, and repeated the day of the week sticker on the right hand side. I've cut the island name on my Silhouette each time and added the town name above it in smaller letter stickers.

Stripy Birthday Card

I have another card for you today, one which I made for my adult nephew. I had the idea of cutting the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment with an offset on my Silhouette and  layering it over a patterned paper so that the pattern shows through the letter openings. It's hard to explain, but this picture should help:

I picked out an ancient paper from my scraps box, which wasn't tall enough for my card front so I added a strip of washi tape below it. It's a really simple card, but I quite like how it turned out.

Butterfly Birthday Card

It was my mum's birthday recently and, of course, I made her a card. This one was based on Sketch-n-Scrap's card sketch #236 from last month.

I used a silver paper from Dovecraft for my background, mixed with pink and grey papers from an unknown collection where I was gifted a few 6x6 papers. I stuck pretty closely to the sketch, with the heart from the sketch becoming a present on my card. I dropped the three dots/gems from the sketch as I felt they would distract from the butterfly pattern.

50 Runs

I've made a page with this title before; that one was to mark my 50th parkrun, but now but now it's the turn of my husband who reached that milestone in 2021 (and has just done his 100th).

My parkrun album is all 8x8, and I used the Little Star Circle Border from Jenny Wren Cut-Files and Twilight Crafts for my page. I cut my photo into a circle, matted it to look like an extension of the cut-file, and cut an extra star to go on the opposite side.

Letters - Jillibean Soup
