This page was conceived a few months ago, but it's taken some time to be born. Last summer I took a class from True Scrap 3 called The Perfect Collection. It was taught by Shimelle Laine and she demonstrated a method for quickly producing pages by randomly cutting up ALL your patterned papers and layering up the pieces to make pages. I started with a small collection of five papers from Basic Grey, and I made two pages at the time. I returned to my bag of paper pieces in November and made two more pages. You can see these four by hitting the 'Perfect Collection' label below.
I finished off by piling up my remaining pieces to make one final 'starting point' page and put it aside until I paired it with a suitable photo. That day has finally arrived and I have my fifth and final page from five patterned papers and five pieces of cardstock.
It was an interesting process and one I will repeat in the future (when I find another collection that I can bear to cut up into random pieces).

This is the fourth page that I made from Shimelle Laine's Perfect Collection class which I started with five sheets from Basic Grey's Granola collection.
It fits in with the three previous pages from this class, Friends, Taking Shelter and Alwen Reservoir, and they will run consecutively in my 2012 album.
I had enough pieces left for a fifth page, so I have make a 'starting point' layout. I used dark brown cardstock this time to make it a bit different from the other four and I will keep this for another album.
I just have a few tiny pieces left now, so small that I have no qualms about consigning them to the recycling bin, and this is probably the first time that I have completely used all the pieces of a collection. I got five pages from five sheets and I consider that to be about normal for me.

The 'pile it all up on the page' method that I used for my last page reminded me of the Perfect Collection class that I took earlier this year. I made two pages at the time and then got distracted by other things. The two pages that I did make, Friends and Taking Shelter, have photos from the same day so it was an easy thing to pull out the rest of the paper pieces from my collection (Basic Grey's Granola) some kraft cardstock and the rest of my photos.
The photos all come from a Sunday afternoon walk on holiday in April this year, but I've spread them across four pages as there were four different parts that I wanted to scrap. This pair of photos are of the nearby reservoir and the very long wooden bridge that we had to cross.

A second page from The Perfect Collection; the photo is from the same walk as before so using the same paper, ribbon and gems makes sense. When we reached the top of the hill in the previous page, it was so windy that we took shelter in a ruined building on the summit.

'The Perfect Collection' is a class that Shimelle Laine taught as part of True Scrap 3 last spring and it is now available as an individual class. I don't want to give anything away, but it's about creating a set of co-ordinating pages from one collection pack. I decided to try out her techniques with some Basic Grey Granola papers, but I had originally bought five sheets, the ones I like most, not the whole collection.
The first page that I have completed has a photo of my children and my friends' child on holiday earlier this year. Despite (or maybe because of) the age difference and the fact that they only see each other for one week a year, I would definitely say they are friends. I took the photo when I was behind them on a walk, and I love the way the two older children are looking down at the younger one and looking after him.
