It's my turn today to share a new page for Twilight Crafts using a Jenny Wren Cut-File. I chose the Heart Semicircle to use with a wedding photo, sized it to wrap round the picture and cut it from white cardstock. I chose a pretty floral background and picked out pink and green inks to match the paper; I then used the green inks to colour the heart outlines and pink for the inner hearts. 

I trimmed my photo a little so that I could mat it on a 4x6 cut-apart piece, and nestled it into my semicircle of green hearts before adding a few pink hearts popped up on foam squares. I ran the patterned part of a branding strip below the photo and tucked a label in to the side. I had  intended that label to form 'shelf' for my title to sit on but discovered that the alphabet I'd intended to use didn't have any ampersands. I switched to an alternative but it was too wide for the space so I turned it sideways, added a few dots from the sheet next to the hearts on the left of the photo, and finished off with some pearl swirls.

Mr & Mrs

I've scrapped all photos from my brother-in-law's wedding day and evening now, but I need one more page to fill a gap before some doubles from the last day of sight-seeing we did in Malaysia.

I picked my favourite shot from their wedding photoshoot (held a few weeks earlier), printed it at A4 (210mm x 297mm) and matted it on red cardstock to be 12" tall for this page. Shimelle made several pages with 12x8 photos in her A Most Magical Scrapbook class, and I scraplifted one of them here for a page with two diagonal clusters of layers, one large and one small.

I'm still sharing pages from the Easter Cybercrop at For the Love of Pretty Paper; the challenges were all chocolate-themed and this was for "Picnic" which was to scrap an outdoors photo.

Dance the Night Away

I've finally reached the last page from my brother-in-law's wedding, but there will be one more bridal page to come from a separate photoshoot as I need an even number to fit the space in the album.

This one features the dancing after the evening banquet and I picked five photos for my own version of 'The Trio' sketch from Shimelle's Start with a  Sketch class, a sketch originally designed for three photos.

The Easter cybercrop at For the Love of Pretty Paper closed yesterday, but I entered this page before the deadline. All the challenges were chocolate-themed and this one was for "Celebrations", to scrapbook a party.

In the Ballroom

This page will come just before the last one, and sit opposite it in my album. It's the second page that I've made made from the 'Go for the Grid' sketch in Shimelle's current class, Start with a Sketch, but they don't actually look too much alike.

This one is from the evening of the wedding when we had a formal banquet in the Grand Ballroom of the hotel. I've used five photos in a chequerboard with the same patterned paper on all the other squares. I cut a window in the top square to reveal the front of the banquet menu which is tucked into a pocket behind the page.

My journalling is mostly about the food that we ate; I didn't take any photos of the dishes themselves so I made sure to pick a couple of pictures which do have food in them.

The food theme means that this is another challenge ticked off in the chocolate-themed Easter Cybercrop at For the Love of Pretty Paper; "Munchies" was to make a foodie page.

Cake and Champagne

Having made a few wedding pages now and planned out the rest, there are going to be nine, one double and eight single. It's a crazy number but there were so many parts to the day that I want to record. 

There was a big stage in the hotel ballroom and the bride and groom used it for the speeches, cutting the cake and pouring a fountain of champagne. Three photos on this page, which is a scraplift from A Most Magical Scrapbook.

And, of course, it's another page for the chocolate-themed Easter cybercrop at For the Love of Pretty Paper; this is "Twix" which was to use stripes.

Clap Your Hands

I'm continuing with pages from the wedding of my brother-in-law in Malaysia; we had a formal dinner in the evening and I took these photos of the children of the two families together. They didn't speak the same language but were interested in each other and ended up playing clapping games alongside each other while we were waiting to go into the ballroom.

I've been making the wedding pages with a subset of the album kit that I assembled but I'm running low on 12x12 paper now so I made this page with four 6x6 papers as my background instead. I stacked my photos in a column and tucked in various scraps down one side.

Two of the papers are predominantly green and black here so I'm ticking off the "Green & Black's" challenge from For the Love of Pretty Paper's chocolate-themed Easter Cybercrop.

Dress to Impress

Another wedding page today, and it's back to the more formal straight lines of my earlier pages. After the daytime ceremony in the bride's family home, they held a formal dinner in a hotel in the evening. I picked out a couple of posed photos for this page, one has the bride and groom with both sets of parents and the other has them with the groom's (our) immediate family.

A two-photo page means that I can tick off "Double Decker" in the chocolate-themed Easter Cybercrop at For the Love of Pretty Paper. Three down, 17 to go (though I'm pretty sure I'll skip over some of them).

My last page was a double for the wedding ceremony of my brother-in-law and his new wife; I have several more wedding pages to come and the next few will have a pair of 4x6 photos each time so I want to make sure they all look a bit different. The first one has photos of the families of the bride and groom, which I placed in opposite corners of a central block, and then filled in the gaps with multiple strips of patterned paper, repeating the papers that I used on the last page I made.

Lots of patterned paper generally leads me to minimal embellishments and on this occasion I just used a scattering of puffy hearts and some glittered dots from my pack of letter stickers.

I'll be trying to combine as many wedding pages as possible with Easter Cybercrop challenges from For the Love of Pretty Paper; they are all chocolate-themed and this is the first one that I've ticked off - the M&Ms challenge - to use alliteration.

A Different Wedding Ceremony

I'm trying to work my way through my Far East album in order so that the single sand doubles fit together properly, and I've finally reached the reason for the trip - the wedding of my brother-in-law to his Malaysian fiancée. Her family has Chinese heritage so the ceremony was based on Chinese traditions including a tea ceremony.

I had previously made an 8-photo double page for just the tea ceremony but I never liked it and I'm happy to bin it and start again. My new page has eight photos again but only two are from the tea ceremony now, with six from other parts of the day. I went for a grid this time, with alternating rectangles of photos and patterned paper, based on the 'Go for the Grid' sketch from Shimelle Laine's new class Start with a Sketch.

I rescued the embossed cardstock from my old pages and plan to spread it across all the wedding pages I make this time. I used four strips here above and below the grid, with the main background being plain cardstock instead.

I'm sticking with my 2019 album today, with a series of pages from a wedding we attended in June. I didn't take many photos, but I couldn't resist pinching some from Facebook when the bride shared them so I ended up with enough for a 12x12 page plus two pocket pages.

I chose papers to match the bridesmaids' dresses, going almost monochromatic in the process. I won these last year; they're not my normal taste, a bit fancy and floral, but perfect for wedding pages.

My single page is based on Sketch #178 from Sketch-n-Scrap, published back in June, and has photos of the bride and groom inside the church and the whole congregation outside afterwards.

One of my papers had cut-apart pieces on one side which was really useful for making matching embellishments. The butterfly came from the place settings at the reception and I backed the patterned wing with matching cardstock.

The majority of the photos were taken at the reception venue and I filled the front and back of a divided page protector with them, choosing one with a mix of landscape and portrait photos.

I filled half the pockets with 4x6 photos and chose the same papers as before to fill the rest. Most of them have smaller photos, but one just has a floral cut-apart piece. I'd originally kept a pocket back for journalling but in the end that all went on the 12x12 page.

For the Love of Pretty Paper is running a Summer Fiesta again this year, with six weekly sets of prompts. Each set is made up of seven ideas (one per day) which you can combine if you wish. These pages are for Week 3 where I chose to use florals, punches and bunting.

More old photos today, as I tackled a recipe challenge from the GoGoGetaway cybercrop a couple of weeks ago. This one called for two photos, and I had nothing on hand from my cruise album so I went back through my old photo albums and picked a couple from my cousin's first wedding. This was in 1988 and I was a teenager with a film camera so the quality of my photos wasn't great, but was probably normal for the time. I had put four photos in the album but two of them were blurry so I just used the other two for this page. They were poorly framed, but a bit of careful cropping has improved their composition.

Apart from the two photos, the other challenge ingredients were a full sheet of cardstock for the background, six pieces of different patterned papers, ten pieces of ephemera or stickers, eight enamel dots or sequins, a title and journalling.

I based my page on the mid-month sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap (which somehow managed to show up in my Blogger Reading List early even though it was unpublished) though I veered off course as I worked. I wanted to show lots of that pretty floral paper so extended it to the full height of the page (though its width was limited by a piece I'd previously cut from it) and I added extra layers of paper behind the photos. I swapped the photos over compared to the sketch because of the direction that the couple are facing in the one on the left, and moved the title as it fitted so neatly above the photo on the right.

Ten pieces of ephemera or stickers had seemed like a lot, but when you start to build three clusters they don't go very far, and I cut some of mine into two or three pieces in order to spread them further. I fulfilled the recipe with the page as it stands on the left here, but I wasn't completely happy with it and continued with a bit more.

The eight enamel dots from the recipe irked me because they didn't split evenly across my clusters, so I added four more. I also added a line of floral stamping to soften the edge where the floral paper meets the cardstock background.

This was the final finished page

which earned me another 9.5 points in Calvinball 2019. The rules are mounting up now but this was on Day 3 so I scored points for the page, a star, enamel dots, the colour green, floral paper, old supplies, handwritten journalling, stickers, this blog post and sharing on Facebook.

Celebrate

This is a companion page to the last one I blogged, and both are from our silver wedding anniversary party. There were actually two weeks between me making the two pages, partly due to my photo-printing service loses my photos at first, but that delay meant that I could make the page fit three different challenges from the month. 

The first was the October challenge from Lottie Loves Paper, which was to use one of the words Birthday, Party, Celebrate or Cake in a page title. With the photos being from a party, I had mentally titled the page 'Celebrate' even before the challenge popped up. The second was a new challenge from UK Scrappers; the 'Friday Five' from 12 October was to use photos with five or more people, washi tape, a vertical title, some glitter and the theme of a get-together. Finally Gemma Steele hosted a cyber-crop in her Stashbusting Facebook group recently and her first challenge was to use something metal or metallic and/or her sketch. I used her sketch, but it morphed a bit, and have silver letters and mist for my metallic items.

Before our party, I was browsing our original wedding photos, and I was struck by one particular group photo where everyone was throwing confetti over us. It was a more natural photo than most of the others, and one that I decided to replicate at the party with party poppers rather than confetti this time.

As this was a companion page to the last one, I used similar supplies. I took the same hearts cut file but shrank it down and replicated it to make a column of hearts this time. I'd backed it with a 6x6 floral print previously, and now I used the same print in 12x12 for my background. I also used the same letter stickers, doily, puffy hearts and gems as before.

25 Years

I'm interrupting my cruise scrapping to share a couple of other pages that I made last month. One of the Alpha Relay challenges from For the Love of Pretty Paper was "Y is for Younger You" and it was one that I couldn't possibly twist to this year's holiday, but I did actually have a good pair of photos just waiting to be scrapped. 

We celebrated 25 years of marriage this year and I wanted to scrap a photo of us cutting the cake at our anniversary party alongside one from our wedding day. I've been meaning to make this page ever since I picked up "A is for Anniversary" in the ABC challenges at UKScrappers but now it can satisfy both prompts.

The colour scheme for my page started from a pack of anniversary-themed flair in pink and grey. I cut the hearts in grey cardstock and backed them with a soft green and pink floral. The background paper looks plain white here, but is actually a book print. I'll journal on the pink paper below the main photo once I've made the companion page to this one and decided what I want to write on each one.

To Have and To Hold

Elaine's Page

Today I'm sharing the fourth and final page that I made for the Scrap Whispers game at UKScrappers last month. This one was started by Mags and passed to Susan and Elaine, before I played last. 

Unusually, Mags gave us a double page, and the version that Elaine passed to me, with just two photos, is nothing like I would normally make. I decided almost at once that I would need to find a way to use more pictures, filling in the 'gaps' between the existing photos to make a full row. I picked a set of wedding photos for the page, twenty years old so taken long before digital cameras, which meant I had only taken five. Two were very similar, so I rejected one to give me four pictures to span the double page.

I used a script paper from my scraps box for the panels at the sides, and decided to work with 6x6 papers for the rest of the page. I started out by layering each photo on two papers as Elaine had done, but it wasn't making me happy, so I changed to a broad strip of overlapping papers instead.

I also changed the (faux?) stitched circles on the page, picking hearts instead and overlapping them in the centre rather than having one on each side. I added a few puffy hearts to the stitched hearts, echoing the wood veneer pieces in Elaine's design, and also put one on the tab of the journalling card tucked behind the photo on the far right of the page (well, it should be on the far right; I obviously tucked it behind the wrong one here, but I've moved it now).

From This Day Forward

Two of the challenge blogs that I follow have got together for a combined challenge this month. Stuck?! Sketches provided the sketch and Scrap Our Stash added a stash challenge to use items representing each of the letters in the word LAYERS. I used the word Love (on the hearts paper), an Ampersand, the Year, Enamel dots, Red cardstock and Stitching on my page. 

I moved everything on the sketch down the page (and omitted the bottom part) as my photos are taller than the ones in the sketch. I decided to machine-stitch the circles with gold blending filament which turned out to be a bit of a mistake. The thread is so fine and snags so easily that it kept breaking as I stitched.

My photos are from a cousin's wedding earlier this summer. The couple's colour theme for the day was red and cream, so I used those colours for my page, with the addition of gold. My background is a lacy/doily print, but the detail's been lost in the photo below.

Another page for the Let's Get Sketchy Sketch-a-Thon blog hop; this one is for Connie's challenge - to use this sketch and some leaves.

I'm combining it with Stash-A-Thon Challenge #4 from Scrap Our Stash. They are celebrating their birthday with lots of celebration-themed stash challenges and this one is to use one or more bows on the page.

The sketch has three photos, but I decided to use two in different sizes from my colleague's wedding last year. I used pressed leaves in my embellishments and added a bow to our invitation, which I then slipped behind the patterned paper at the top where it can easily be pulled out and read.

I'm sharing a trio of wedding pages today - one conventional 12x12 and two divided pages. When I originally planned this album I was overwhelmed by this set of photos; there aren't a lot of them, but they were mostly single photos or pairs of photos that related to different aspects of the day. It looked like either doing lots of one or two photo pages, or cramming them all onto a double, and I didn't really like either option.

Then I was inspired to use a divided page protector by the fourth video in Shimelle's Return to the Collection class. I don't know why I didn't think of it for myself as I am using them for my Norwegian cruise album, but I didn't. Anyway, this format allows me to put all the different photos together because each one still gets its own miniature 4x6 layout within the divided page.

The 12x12 page features the bride and groom and the rest of the wedding party, and has my only 4x6 vertical photo. The large hearts on the red paper are obscured, but I used pieces of the same paper in the divided pages.

I didn't have enough photos to fill all the pockets - the red hearts makes a good filler, and I included the invitation in another pocket. I've dug into my old stash of wedding stickers and rub-ons too as the colours matched the wedding colours so well.

I've tried to continue the same motifs through the pages, so there are lots of gold lines and hearts and lots of scalloped circles, a few flowers and the same lettering for all the subtitles. I also repeated some stamping in green in several places - the tree stamp that I used has pretty swirly branches and I overlapped those and omitted the trunk to get a mass of swirls across the 12x12 page and on the edges of a couple of the smaller cards.

There is one more page from the day to come - afterwards the bride and groom gave us a professional photo of our children who had been Page Boy and Flower Girl. That one will come next in the album and shares the same colour scheme, but I'll blog it tomorrow.

Tiny Dancers

My first challenge page of the year, and it's one for Sketch-n-Scrap's Sketch #48. I adapted it for two photos of my children, niece and nephew at a family wedding. I've already scrapped the bride and groom (First Dance) so I pulled out the same collection of patterned papers and the remains of the border sticker I used then for this page.

There are a lot of strong colours and patterns in my papers so I matted each one with white paper, and kept the embellishment very simple, just a plain chipboard heart covered with the background paper. My title letters were originally kraft, but I re-coloured them to match the background.
