Simple Birthday Card

Sharing a quick and easy birthday card today, one based on the June card sketch from Stick It Down.

I pulled out my 'go-to' paper collection for male cards - Mr Mister by Papermania - picked two coordinating papers for the half-and-half background and ran a gold peel-off sticker along the join. I then die-cut a stitched circle from cardstock, backed it with a gadget patterned paper, and layered my sentiment over it.

Canary Islands Cruise

It's time now to share another DT page that I've made for Twilight Crafts and Jenny Wren Cut-Files. I'm making a whole album for our cruise to the Canary Islands a couple of years ago, but I also need a summary page for my annual album. I've chosen JWCF814 Circle in Sections for this, but removed some of the dividing lines to give me ten sections rather than twenty.

I've backed half the sections with photos and the other half with patterned papers, using off-cuts from the main album. I've then filled the middle with a cut-apart piece and my title.

I've mentioned before that I have a Silhouette Portrait, that has an 8" cutting width. I cut this cut-file in two parts and pieced them together again to give me a 10.5" circle overall. I positioned two of the ten gold puffy dots to cover the joins on the inner circle and they also draw the eye so you don't notice the joins in the outer circle.

Bronze Age Geometry

This is the third of three pages documenting a walk we did on Easter Sunday. We're in Fernworthy Forest now where there is a plethora of Bronze Age remains. My photos are of a stone circle, a stone row, and us sitting on the edge of a hut, which I decided to mat in a large block with a journalling piece cut from one of the papers. I'd originally earmarked the aqua paper as my background, but it looked good as a mat for that block so I built an alternative 'half-and-half' background from two off-cuts, adding a couple of torn strips between them.

Moor Tors

I'm turning my back on the Scottish album for now, and returning to my 2023 album. Before we went away I was scrapping our previous holiday, a week in Devon in April, and last published the first page of three from a walk we did on Easter Sunday - Off We Go! In that post I described the start of the walk with photos of Fernworthy Reservoir.

From there we moved onto Dartmoor and walked up to Thornworthy Tor. I printed a couple of 4x6 photos for this page and used a sketch from Shimelle Laine's Start with a Sketch class. The paper-pieced background is a repeat of something I did a few pages ago, so that repeats in this set of Devon pages. Looking back, I noticed that I used a filmstrip on the first page from this holiday, but not since, so I've made sure to repeat that too.

Where to Next?

My blog has been silent for the last few weeks as we were on a road trip round Scotland and I didn't have enough posts prepared to cover my absence. Now I'm back, with a camera full of new photos to turn into a new scrapbook. I didn't intend to start it straight away, but there was one set of pictures that works perfectly for my next DT page for Twilight Crafts.

We stayed in eleven different places on our eighteen night trip and I decided that I would record them all on one page, using the top part of the Covid Memes Squares cut-file which has eleven frames. I sized the frames at approximately 10" x 7", cut them from kraft cardstock, and printed my photos just larger than 2" square to back the openings.

I'll be using Simple Stories Travel Notes (and extra papers) for this album, an older collection that I  originally bought for a cruise that was cancelled in 2020. For this page, I cut a 3" strip of patterned paper to go down the left of my layout, and added an assortment of travel-themed stickers  vertically down the edge, above and below the cut-file.
